Ocean longing...

Updated: Dec 30, 2022

When I started working with resin, the ocean was always on my mind, with its infinite shades of blue it has always appealed to me.

Therefore, I started a series with the theme of the ocean "Ocean Longing".

During the process of creating my art work I like to think back to the many beautiful places I was privileged to travel to and explore.

I would always prefer to make memories and experiences rather than spending the money on designer handbags or expensive jewelry.

In the 90s I used to work as a flight attendant with LTU.

One day I got to go to the Maldives! You can not imagine how excited I was when I got to read that on my flight plan! MALDIVES! For a whole 3 days!!!

I have always dreamed of this! I've always wanted to go there!

On the descent to Malè I looked outside my window and seeing the small islands below me, I’m tearing up. This feeling is indescribable.

It gets even better!

The crew is taken by a speedboat to an island.

The warm sea surrounded us with all its different shades of blue from the deepest navy to the most intense turquoise I have ever seen.

It burns itself into my memory.

This experience shapes me so much that even today I associate the color blue or turquoise or green with the Maldive ocean.

At this moment, I promise myself that my sweetheart absolutely needs to see this too!

(For his 30th, I surprised him with a vacation in the Maldives...he was so excited!)

During my flight attending time I got to meet my husband Robert. (no, not on a flight ;))

Wherever possible we would travel to be at the ocean.

Seychelles, Maldives, Thailand... all these wonderful places have shaped my images and always flow into new works!

My sea pictures are characterized by the fact that they are all multi-layered.

This creates an incredible depth. The images feel alive!

The waves are strong and full of movement. The fine sand and driftwood create a feeling of vacation.

Have I triggered "ocean longing" in you?

As it is with photos of your vacation, they never do it justice of how beautiful the moment was in real life.

The same counts for my art work, so please feel free to come by or ask me for more detailed shots of the painting. I’m always happy to help you find the perfect piece for you.

If the ocean gives you the same feeling as it does for me and you want to get some vacation atmosphere in your home, why don’t you have a look at my ocean art work?

Click here to go to my art catalog - there you will find a few of my sea pictures!

I’d also love to make YOUR personalized dream ocean painting - completely individually, if this is something you’d be interested in - let's talk about it ;-)

Creative greetings,

Your Andrea
